چکیده

1.1 The biodiversity mapping problem Mapping the distribution of elements of biodiversity is essential to any planned approach for allocating resources to conservation, as well as to understand macro scale evolutionary processes. For well studied areas, ‘point’ data from observed locations of each species may provide sufficient information. For well studied species, a range of modelling techniques are available to extrapolate from known locations, using climate and other environmental data to predict areas of suitable habitat for the species. But these approaches have limitations for broad scale applications such as conservation planning, where we may need to consider all species and areas, including those for which data are sparse.

Social and environmental influences on egg size evolution in frogs

The reproductive strategies of frogs are highly diverse, but analysis of these strategies in a phylogenetic context has lagged behind other taxa. Here we investigate associations between aspects of parental care and egg size in a phylogenetic context. We obtained data on egg size and parental care strategies in various species of frogs from the scientific literature. We developed a phylogenetic...

Phylogenetic turnover during subtropical forest succession across environmental and phylogenetic scales

Although spatial and temporal patterns of phylogenetic community structure during succession are inherently interlinked and assembly processes vary with environmental and phylogenetic scales, successional studies of community assembly have yet to integrate spatial and temporal components of community structure, while accounting for scaling issues. To gain insight into the processes that generat...

Designing the Model of Knowledge Workers Turnover In Khorasan Razavi Oil Products Distribution Company

In the current economic conditions of the country, retaining knowledge workers is one of the most important future challenges for organization, especially in the knowledge-based organizations. So, this study aimed at designing a knowledge worker turnover model. The mixed method has been used in this research. In order to collect data, three-stage Delphi technique, semi-structured interviews and...

Integrating phylogenetics and environmental niche models to explore speciation mechanisms in dendrobatid frogs.

We developed an approach that combines distribution data, environmental geographic information system layers, environmental niche models, and phylogenetic information to investigate speciation processes. We used Ecuadorian frogs of the family Dendrobatidae to illustrate our methodology. For dendrobatids there are several cases for which there is significant environmental divergence for allopatr...

Stochastic Models for Pricing Weather Derivatives using Constant Risk Premium

‎Pricing weather derivatives is becoming increasingly useful‎, ‎especially in developing economies‎. ‎We describe a statistical model based approach for pricing  weather derivatives by modeling and forecasting daily average temperatures data which exhibits long-range dependence‎. ‎We pre-process the temperature data by filtering for seasonality and volatility an...
